Field Notes

Description:

Very large, very colourful Kingfisher with a massive beak. Green upperparts, blue wings and tail, and a brown head and nape. It has rufous underparts with small and distinctively bright red legs and feet

Habitat:

Residential building with attached pond. There are many trees around the pond and there are fish in the pond...no wonder there are Kingfishers here. But this one apparently likes other small prey better.

Ha ha I agree! Wonderful shot Sukanya. Thank you for sharing :)
Oh, I know that pain. I think the best way to get an ulcer is to photograph birds. And butterflies.
Thank you Tukup and Neil. I love a bird that is large and sits still.
Great spotting and notes, Sukanya. That is a spectacular bird. Kingfishers never fail to please and amaze.
Perfect pose. Nice shot Sukanya. Thanks.
