Description:

The mallard is probably the most well known and most recognizable duck in the world. The male has an iconic green heading during summer. This male (1st and 3rd photo) seems to be in transition between eclipse and breeding plumages (note the green stripe on his otherwise brown head.

Habitat:

These mallards were feeding in a creek in a nature preserve.
