Field Notes

Description:

White stemmed mushroom with gray to black gills.Photo 2 shows the stem attachment to the base. Mushrooms are in a recent batch of new topsoil.
The mushrooms best seen in the early morning. Looked for spores and they appear to have burst open, but appeared to rather oval. Species ID based in part by pictures of the stem attachment.

Habitat:

New flower bed.
