Field Notes

Description:

Female pupa, likely containing one dead adult female and her fertilized eggs still within her abdomen.

Habitat:

Attached to (and pupa made of) dawn redwood in a park setting

Notes:

More common on arborvitae in the area, and the combination of bagworm infestation and drought is killing some entire trees and windbreak plantings.
