Field Notes

Description:

This bird used to be known locally as a White-vented Myna until it was determined, many years ago now, that Acridotheres javanicus grandis should become a species in its own right, became Acridotheres grandis and kept the name White vented Myna. From that time Acridotheres javanicus became known as the Javan Myna. Old common names can take a long time to fall into disuse.

Habitat:

Country park with grassy areas, beaches, rivers, trees, mangrove swamps, jungle areas, planted areas, etc.
