Field Notes

Description:

I'm thinking this is a Bostrichidae, an Auger Beetle, but I can't find one like this one. The closest is a species of Xylobiops, but not the same…..
(http://bugguide.net/node/view/752181/bgimage). The antennae are really bizarre. About 5 mm long.

Habitat:

Came to an ultraviolet light. Finca Argovia, Ruta de Cafe, Soconusco area of southern Chiapas, Mexico. About 1 hour northeast of Tapachula.

Species ID Suggestions

Pinhole borer

Platypodinae sp.
