Field Notes

Description:

Alydidae; Alydinae; Riptortus macleani Schaffner, 1963. This bug has a very distinct appearance which makes it easy to compare with others for identification. The only difficulty I encountered with this one was proving its presence in Philippines. However, R. macleani is confirmed as present here in - http://hbs.bishopmuseum.org/fiji/pdf/iom7-7cor.pdf

Habitat:

Spotted on a pot plant in our front yard.
