Description:

These puffy fungi were on several of these trees. The outside is papery and rough. I poked the top with a stick and found the inside was quite soft looking with some green and peach-colored flesh. You can see the underside of the "cap" in the last photo. It actually split the tree bark open where the fruiting body emerged

Interesting find, Machi. To me they look like decayed birch polypore specimens (Piptoporus betulinus).
