Field Notes

Description:

Most city parks in town double as flood basins when it rains hard. this park behind Walmart was flooded to about a foot deep and became a resting/feeding spot for a couple dozen of these.

Habitat:

Active forager, walks through shallow water and picks up prey on or below water surface, dashes after prey on land.

Notes:

This bird was suggusted as a greater yellowlegs but the largest of those seen was about 11" so I have decided to call them the lesser yellowlegs
