Field Notes

Description:

He appeared in a flash while watching the purple sunbirds late this am. From the description found, the bird is called Dudhraj in Hindi due to milky white colour of its body. The long white tail of the bird looks even more beautiful when the bird flies in a wavy motion up and down maneuvering in the sky to catch insects. The long tail is probably used to impress the female.

Notes:

Such a splendid bird! So sorry about the hazy pictures and hoping to catch better views of him. With my well-wooded backyard and trees in bloom, probably I'll have another chance to watch for him!
