Description:

These birds are in the process of transitioning to breeding plumage, so they are kind of ugly right now. They are a gray/brown all over, and you can see one of the birds in the photos has quite a bit more black on it.

Habitat:

They are found in prairie regions in central North America. There was a flock of about 8 hanging out in a lot of cactus.
