Field Notes

Description:

I saw this fungi at the Singapore American School forest and it was attached to a brown twig which fell off a tree. It was a pale brown kind of like a pale skin tone on the top of it, and on the bottom it was different shades of brown. It was in a shape of a circle which has something on the bottom of it which was holding it to the twig.

Species ID Suggestions

Bracket Fungus

Ganoderma Applanatum

It's hard to tell from the pictures, but this fungus looks a bit thin for Ganoderma. Perhaps look at Microporus species instead.
Bracket fungi can also grow on large branches like in your picture, too, not just trunks!
