Field Notes

Description:

Native to North America the Wild Turkey was introduced (or reintroduced?) to this region (San Francisco north bay area) by a local rancher who released them as game stock. The Turkeys have since flourished. In some suburban areas they have attained the status of pest. In our rural setting, though they thrive, their numbers are maintained through natural predation and limited hunting. So far, they're not in my garden!

Notes:

This flock was hanging out by our gate in a light rain.
