Field Notes

Description:

It is gray all over with spots down the back. Stripes on the side lead to a greenish belly, this is a juvenile so his belly isn't as green yet. They have no external ear opening, which is why they are called earless.

Habitat:

Found in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and Mexico in rocky, arid areas.

Thanks Bernadette! And he is adult sized, just now starting to get his breeding colors though.
Oh my, he's so small! Great last photo to show scale and his underbelly! How large do the adults get?
