Field Notes

Description:

A very large cobra, one of the largest of the genus Naja. The specimens here were of some 1,5m to 1,75m long, with blackish bodies and cream-colored underparts, heavily striped in black. Face and neck stripped white (or cream)-and-black

Habitat:

The only cobra well adapted to high forest. It occurs in forests throughout western and central Africa.

Notes:

I was really not too keen to see these beautiful animals in nature so I preferred to visit their farm in Kinshasa. The place is called "Le Jardin de Serpents" and their FB page is https://www.facebook.com/Les-Serpents-du-Congo-255639030615
