Field Notes

Habitat:

this little guy appeared from nowhere, it was found outside my back door on a concrete step, which is surrounded by about three metres of an old red brick path with at least a 6ft wall on every side. A risky home for most as its full of spiders with little plant matter.

thanks for the i.d bayucca I would definitely have to agree with with you on Fimetarius. Also thanks for the welcome back, my connections a little bit poor but I can work with that aha!
Scarabaeidae, Aphodius sp. and might be Aphodius fimetarius. But this genus should not be underestimated, quite a tricky one. Fimetarius is the most common one in Europe. But there are other similar ones. Maybe you have closer pictures of at and an expert by the hand. http://www.flickr.com/photos/oldbilluk/5456491417/ And: Welcome back, Janine!
