Field Notes

Description:

A very round body shape that is black and shiny. Curiously the two patches at the front of the organism are red instead of the usual yellow. Like all ladybird beetles, they eat aphids, but these have the added benifit of going after mealy bug pests and are seen as a biological response to them on crops.

Habitat:

A diverse habitiat range but often seen hunting up and down pl;ant stems in gardens and wooded areas.
