Field Notes

Notes:

Seen in Carnarvon Gorge National Park. The first five shots are a male, and the sixth is a female in the same bush. The male in these photos has much duller colouring than other specimens I have seen, such as these ones: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/14062327 / http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/9041070 I'm not sure if it's a different sub-species, or a young bird, or has something going on with its breeding cycle!

Thanks kd! This pic is one of my favourites.
Lovely photos ShannaB. The reds keep eluding you but this wren keeps eluding me! Once this year I had the reds, variegated and blue all together with their respective clans, it was a battle of the titans, could not get the variegated in good view - the reds and blues were too aggressive and defending their territories which seemed to overlap too much for them to share!
Nice series and what beautiful wrens!
Thanks Mac and Kerry. I love wrens too, they are absolutely delightful. I NEARLY caught a Red-backed Fairy-wren on camera once, but he got away!
Such a beautiful, delicate bird. Love wrens af any kind.
