Field Notes

Description:

The shell is mostly dark with yellow on it, and the plastron is mostly yellow with black spots on it. The body is heavily striped, and there is a red "ear" patch on either side of the head.

Habitat:

Native to the southern US and northern Mexico, but because it is popular in the pet trade it has been released in many other parts of the world. This guy was in a spring fed pond.
