Field Notes

Description:

A rich red-brown scarab with an overall green metallic sheen, depending on the angle. It had large eyes, a white stripe on each side of the pronotum and hardly any body hair. About 1.5 cm long. Family Scarabaeidae.

Habitat:

Came to an ultraviolet light. Finca Argovia, Ruta de Cafe, Soconusco area of southern Chiapas, Mexico. About 1 hour northeast of Tapachula.
