Description:

a medium sized nocturnal marsupial. it has a prehensile tail and imposing teeth, though it is generally not aggressive towards people or domestic animals. virginia opossums are generalists which feed on a wide variety of fruits, carrion and small prey as well as human garbage.

woods, urban/suburban areas,

Notes:

this opossum sheltered under the eaves of my kitchen window during a windstorm, hence the really up close shot!
