Field Notes

Description:

Males have a brown body, black neck and head with a white cheek patch, and a blue bill while in breeding plumage. The tail is longer than most other ducks, and normally sticks up out of the water, but I couldn't see it on this guy.

Habitat:

They are found in marshy lakes and ponds in North America. There were about 5 hanging out at this park in open woodlands.

Notes:

The second photo also has a Mallard and American Wigeons in it.
