Field Notes

Description:

Mostly black wings with 2 small orange spots with centered black spots on the hind wings. The hindwing of the photographed has the distinctive iridescent blue band. Butterfly is pollinating the verbina in a drought tollerant butterfly garden.

Habitat:

Temperate climate. Bushed nearby serve to shelter the butterflies from predators.
