Field Notes

Description:

I think that these insects are Woolly Aphids because they look similar to one of the pictures in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eriosomatinae.....

Habitat:

Spotted in our backyard in an area, near our perimeter fence, which is allowed to grow wild (weeds). The undergrowth acts as a natural barrier to deter tresspassers. The plant, on which these aphids were spotted is unidentified.

Notes:

My first thought when I saw these insects was that they might be planthopper nymphs from the family Flatidae and I still think of that as a possibility. If anyone can offer help with this, I would be most grateful.
