Field Notes

Description:

very spicy although I suppose I could have been mistaking extreme acridity for spiciness!? I have a vague recollection of tasting the milk a second time, a bit later, and it having a much milder reaction. That might fit in with it being Lactarius hepaticus. Thanks for the suggestion Pouhi! I'm now considering Lactarius rufus because of the brick red colour and extreme spiciness.
