Family: Carnation Family - Caryophyllaceae
Height: 8-25 cm (3–10 in.)
Flower: Regular (actinomorphic). Five petals, white. Five sepals, free. Five styles. Usually five stamens. Top-shaped inflorescence.
Leaves: Opposite, but apparently whorled, without a petiole. Limbus linear, filiform. Membranous stipules. Furthermore, the lower leaves are clearly shorter than the internode.
Fruit: Yellowish capsule with five valves. Clearly winged black seeds.

Habitat:

Rocky coast of the Mediterranean Sea. Fine soil in dry rocky outcrops dominated by lichens. Patches of exposed sand in dry forests. Marine coastline.
