Field Notes

Description:

Just a few of the hundreds of ladybugs that infested my parents' house. According to Wikipedia, "Its colour ranges from yellow-orange to black, and the number of spots between none and 22." Most of the ones I saw had 18 spots, like in Pic #1 and #3. Some had none (Pic #1) and some were black with red spots. I particularly liked the spots on the one in Pic #2. I also liked that it is called the Halloween Ladybeetle because it invades houses in October in preparation for overwintering! It is also known as harlequin ladybird.
