Thank you, Karen. I almost picked it up, thinking it was a hair ball from one of my dogs but stopped myself when it suddenly started walking... Good job it did, as thanks to your identification I now know that this harmless looking caterpillar actually has very venomous spines.

Very interesting! It looks like some kind of puss moth caterpillar (Megalopygidae sp.) which have stinging hairs. Welcome to Project Noah Jinny!
