Field Notes

Description:

These birds have grey upperparts and white underparts with a white face, a grey crest, a dark forehead and a short stout bill; they have rust-coloured flanks.

Habitat:

The habitat is deciduous and mixed woods as well as gardens, parks and shrubland in the eastern United States. This bird was in a wooded area of oaks and pines when it was caught in a mist net, banded, and released to on its way.

Notes:

The banding was an ongoing project at a County charter school to determine the biodiversity on its 26 acre property.
