Field Notes

Description:

This particular Hairy Frogfish is brown in colour with some darker brown markings/patterns on its body. They can also be found in black colour variation. The 'hair-like' appendages on this frogfish gives its name to Hairy Frogfish.

Habitat:

Sandy/rubble bottom ranging from 3 meters depth to 30 plus meters.

Notes:

The Hairy Frogfish is a popular subject among scuba divers especially underwater photographers as it is rare to find and a thrill to see, especially their behaviors; walking with its pectoral fins, yawning and 'hunting' using its lure.
