Field Notes

Description:

Medium sized bird of prey, with reddish coat, grey head and black stripes on cheeks, about 35 cm in length. The best shot of the series, and still very grainy - sorry about that, that was just a great distance shooting... I saw this fellow hovering over a prairie in front of our balcony, and observed it for some time, but unfortunately it kept quite far away... but ever since its visit, I'm waiting for his return, and hopefully some better pics.

Habitat:

Seen hovering over the prairie, and then resting on nearby rooftops, on edges of small town, suburbs of Geneva. Geneva lake valley, edges of an lowland oak forest, with some agriculture.
