Field Notes

Description:

Clusters of yellow, four-petaled flowers.

Habitat:

Open field near a creek

Notes:

Common in "waste areas" like roadsides, this nonnative from the mustard family is very similar to the native yellow rocket, Barbarea orthoceras. However, this European cress is hairless whereas the American yellow rocket has small hairs on the leaf auricle. https://www.minnesotawildflowers.info/flower/american-yellow-rocket

thanks for pointing in me in the right direction, BlueAppaloosa! Upon closer inspection, I found this to be the nonnative cousin.
