Field Notes

Description:

Sometimes you hear these Grosbeaks calling before you see them. Breeding males are a rich black on the head,wings and tail over a cinnamon body. Black streaks down the back, white spots on wings and tail and a gray bill. Females are a faded version with white line over the eye and mustache.

Habitat:

This one was calling from the willows by a creek.
