Description:
Male Harlequin ducks in there breeding plumage. A complex mixture of dark slate blue and chestnut along with streaks and patches of black and white. They use their stubby bill to pry invertebrates such as snails, limpets, crabs, chitons, and mussels from the rocks.
Habitat:
Spotted on large rocks covered with seaweed and mussels at Tongue Point Marine Sanctuary. These marine ducks spend much of their time on the rocks and in the kelp beds nearby foraging for food.
