Field Notes

Description:

Round body, blue-gray colour with dark spots, upto 1,6 mtrs width. Will approach at close range, watch out for tail spines!

Habitat:

Mostly near rocks and on sandy bottoms, living on depths from 1 upto 50 metres.

Notes:

These rays are quite common around Cocos Island and each encounter is an absolute spectacle to see how elegant these animals move.

Indeed - before Coco I always said that I had to dive there at least once in my life - now I did it (8 straight days of 3 to 4 dives x day) and obviously after Coco there can only be again diving off Coco. Very demanding dives, but what an experience!!!
