Field Notes

Description:

These Beach Spider Lilies were very picturesque. With foot-long stems, only about 20 millimeters long, it was a wonder that they could stay up. The pistil and anthers were also about 4 inches long, allowing easy pollination. The Labellum (at least, I believe it was the labellum) was shaped like a funnel.

Habitat:

This was found in a cultivated bed of flowers at Singapore American School. This particular flower is native to Central America, but I guess it was imported over here for gardens.
