Field Notes

Description:

Spider Conch - Lambis lambis is a large sized Sea Snail.
Their shell from the top (Pic#3) looks normal in general and usually covered with sands and particles. However, the underside of the shell is smooth and nicely patterned, making the shell popular among collectors for souvenirs.
They have large eyes placed at the end of stalks. These stalked eyes can be moved independently and extended out one at a time to scan the snail's surroundings.

Habitat:

Tropical reefs, usually in sandy bottom or coral rubbles.
