Field Notes

Description:

On Tuesday(12-3-2013) I had spotted this wild jungle cat being attacked by Macaque monkeys during an early morning walk approaching the "Mall road" in Shimla in India .Please help me identify this wild cat as it is a rare occurrence, See the attached video.

Habitat:

India

Notes:

For the first time in my life i had witnessed a live encounter between two wild animals on a city road in the surrounding forest trees just a few meters away from me.I have also video-taped this encounter, the cat cornered at the end of a branch by a pair of macaque monkeys.I later walked away from the scene as i had other important sightseeing itinerary in this beautiful hill-station city of India. Hope this cat escaped the monkeys as nature can be very cruel.

Looks like a domestic cat.
in the first picture, the cat looks terrified. I hope it escaped ,These momkeys have such sharp teeth and they are known to be vicious.
you got me really excited man. hate to tell you but it's a common house cat. you can see the collar the owner put on it. crazy that a macaque would chase that cat up the tree though.
