Note rufous neck showing in photos. Whitish undefined stripe along upper lip.

Habitat:

Widespread and common in sclerophyl forest and coastal scrub of south eastern Australia including Tasmania where it has longer more shaggy fur than on the mainland.

Notes:

Called Bennett's Wallaby in Tasmania where we saw this one. It was feeding in the brush beside the trail to Wine-glass Bay in Freycinet Park. They will eat seed pods as well as grazing on a wide variety of other plant material.

Thanks for the "likes". I miss the dry sunny days, the exciting new wildlife and plants and especially these accomodating photo subjects!:)
Thanks, kd. It was so busy eating that it really didn't care about the photographer, which was great. I guess living around the trail to Wine-glass Bay gives a wallaby a certain blase' attitude towards humans:)
