Description:

Minuscule, shiny black ant that was dwarfed by the nearby Northern Fungus Farming Ant (photo 3), which isn't very big for an ant itself. The mandibles and bottom of the legs were more of a reddish or brown color.

Habitat:

Sandy part of a suburban yard. Wandering near a Northern Fungus Farming Ant nest
