Description:
Monoecious annual or biennial, about 1 m. tall herb, with sparse stinging hairs. Stem quadrangular. Racemes bisexual, male flowers spiked, female flowers in terminal globose long peduncled head, c. 1 cm in diameter.
Habitat:
Spotted in the ruins of an abandoned stable in Seih-Sou, the suburban forest of Thessaloniki, Greece.
Notes:
Greek name: Κνίδη η σφαιριδιόκαρπος, Κνίδη η σφαιριδιοφόρος. Greek common name: Τσουκνίδα.
The most stinging of the European species.
