Field Notes

Description:

The caps of this agaric were about 60 to 70 mm wide, with small reddish brown scales. Margins were paler. Gills were close and a pinkish brown with red stains. The upper part of the stipe was narrow and the same colour as the gills. Rings on mature fruiting bodies appeared more fragile than those on the young mushrooms. The stipe was white and slightly rough below the ring and it broadened towards the bulbous base.

Habitat:

Spotted in a moist shady spot amongst eucalyptus and acacia trees.
