American snout

This butterfly is a member of the subfamily Libytheinae in the brush-footed butterfly family, Nymphalidae. This one right here is a female and was laying eggs on multiple hackberry plants. As the larval host plants are Celtis species on which the eggs are laid singly. There are two common varieties of hackberry in our area, but have no idea of specificaly which two types of hackberry.
