Field Notes

Description:

Medium sparrow with streaked, gray-brown upperparts and buff underparts with black breast spot. Head has black, white, and chestnut-brown stripes. Tail is long and black with white edges. Short, fluttering flight, alternates rapid wing beats with wings pulled to sides.

Habitat:

Spotted in shrub-steppe along the Columbia river.

Thank you so much Daniele. My latest trip to eastern Washington was just awesome. The temperature was in the mid 80's so the bugs were really active as well as the birds.
