Field Notes

Description:

Similar to the Western Grebe. Both have red eyes, and long slender neck that is white in the front and black in the back. The Clark's Grebe 's bill is yellow-orange slightly pointing up. The black crown is usually over the the eyes. Back is mottled gray with belly.

Habitat:

Spotted in a small slough near the bay

Notes:

Mated pair. Last image one had snagged a fish but would not let me see it.
