I agree completely with Mr. Goldfish. The Ootheca is the correct shape for Tenodera sinensis as well. Carolina Mantis Ootheca look like this: http://bugguide.net/node/view/775153/bgimage http://bugguide.net/node/view/375735/bgimage
Nope, Chinese mantids. You can see in the photo that the ootheca and nymphs are different. And Stagmomantis carolina oothecae do not hatch that many nymphs and Stagmomantis carolina hatch out a few to several nymphs each day for a period of several days. Tenodera sinensis hatch out all at one time.
