Field Notes

Description:

5 inches long. Male (winter feathers) Yellowish brown, with yellow wash on face and chin, black wings with white wing bars. Feeds on ground eating seeds, insects, berries. At bird feeders prefers hulled sunflower seeds. This species is generally monogamous.

Habitat:

Backyard near open woodlands and lawn

Notes:

The feathers might be just starting to turn into summer feathers (molting)
