Aratinga finschi

Puerto Rican Amazon

Amazona vittata

Comments (3)

Amazona tucumana is too large and a South American bird.
The bird itself is too small and has a too long tail for an Amazona. Amazona vittata is endemic to Puerto Rico. The Orange-fronted parakeet has a much larger whitish/yellowish ring around the eye, no orange bug, no spots at the side of the head and some bluish part on top of the head. http://www.1-costaricalink.com/costa_rica_fauna/orange_fronted_parakeet.htm http://www.1000birds.com/reports_CR_Orange-fronted-Parakeet.htm Yours is Aratinga finschi, Crimson-fronted Parakeet or Finsch's Parakeet. http://neotropical.birds.cornell.edu/portal/species/overview?p_p_spp=185656 http://birdingcraft.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Crimson-fronted-Parakeet.jpg http://www.hlasek.com/aratinga_finschi_eb5550.html http://www.naturephoto-cz.com/crimson-fronted-parakeet-photo-1765.html
I don't think this is correct... The Puerto Rican Amazon only appears in Puerto Rico. Can it also be an Orange-fronted parakeet?
