Looper Moth
Chrysodeixis sp.
15.4558, 119.92
Field Notes
Description:
Noctuidae; Plusiinae; Chrysodeixis sp. I am uploading this additional spotting of Chrysodeixis sp. because, in the previous one, earlier today, I made a statement about seeing this kind of moth, most frequently in the months of June and July. After posting that spotting, and despite being sure of the validity of what I said, I decided to go through my collection of moth photos to check if there was anything else there that might verify further what I had said. The single photo shown here does just that. This picture was taken in the same vicinity as the four spottings listed in Notes below. It was taken in the same year, 2016 but in the month of October. This was the only Chrysodeixis sp. that I spotted outside of the months of June and July in the year 2016. I have not checked through all the other years because I feel that what I have shown already is sufficient to make the point. I really don't know if this kind of information is of any help to anyone, because I am certainly not a moth expert, but I send my moth spottings to PN Missions, Moths in the Philippines and Butterflies & Moths of the World and I imagine that these moth enthusiasts probably want all the information they can get.
Habitat:
This moth was spotted in foliage growing along the edge of a rice field. I was happy to get such a clear view - this type of moth tends to be shy and nervous. It is usually seen in deep undergrowth. I only managed one picture before it fly away.
