Field Notes

Description:

Small velvety caterpillar to 12mm long. It was quite camouflaged on this Macaranga bush. The thing that drew my attention was the little white pile of now known to be parasitic wasp cocoons. See similar spotting in my notes for the explanation of what's going on.

Habitat:

Open woodland at Cattana Wetlands QLD

Good spotting. Looks like this caterpillar has been 'fixed'. You have the ants into the story as well (just to complicate things)
